Some Ways To Keep Healthy Kidneys

  • Now some of the things were are going to be talking about is staying hydrated. We need to make sure we drink water each day.  Water is what, helps, give us healthy kidneys,  don’t feel like you have to drink a gallon you don’t want to over do it.
  • Quit smoking, why, because smoking constricts your blood vessels and keeps your kidneys from getting the right amount of blood and could contribute to kidney disease.
  • Kidneys produce red blood cells. Vitamins B-6,B-12 and also Folate all help in the formation of blood cells. B-vitamins also helps control blood sugar because diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease.
  • Vitamin-C is good to take for its antioxidant properties and it helps with making the cell membranes in your kidneys and protects them from free radicals.
  • Make sure you keep your blood pressure under control. High blood pressure is a leading cause of kidney failure.
  • We need to stay fit, if you exercise keep it up because your body works better when you are in shape. You have to eat right and get the right nutrition. Reduce your salt intake because it is bad for your circulatory system.
  • Stress – get rid of stressful situations in your lifestyle, stress is a additive to poor health.

One thing to keep in mind though when it comes to vitamins don’t over do it, ask your healthcare provider for the right dosage, just remember too much is as bad as not enough. I’m sure they are a lot more about kidneys that I will be adding later this is just a short article.

  1. This is some real good information. I’m looking forward to reading all the ads and need to talk Brandy into doing so as well.

  2. The kidneys are one of the major organs of the body that play significant roles in metabolism, electrolyte balance and waste elimination that’s why it’s really important to keep them healthy. And yes, drinking enough water is one of the best ways to take care of our kidneys.

I think herbal drinks and vitamins are good too but I read that being on continuous herbal medications and vitamins for more than 3 months could have an adverse effect to our kidneys and so we must refrain from them for a month or two then we can resume again after such period. How accurate you think is this information?

  3. Hi Fred
These are some great tips. What I have a problem with is the smoking. I don’t smoke very much but can’t quit yet.
Is it true, vitamin B 12 is what I should take as a supplement when smoking?

    • I used to smoke a long time ago for about 7 years, but it takes a lot of will to quit, and it’s hard to, but I believe you can do it if you try. Good luck

    • Don’t give up and you will quit. I have had friends in the past that would say they couldn’t quit, they were not strong enough. In time they found the strength when they saw what it did to other people.

  4. Fred,
Will any of these meds help with kidney stones. I have had one spell that had to be taken care of. I do not want to go through that pain again.
I did change my diet and get more exercise after my episode.
    John

    • John, I have not taken this supplements personally, but the have good customer comments on them. Kidney Formula has a good review on kidney stones, but everyone’s body is different.

  5. Sadly, I take medication which threatens my kidneys the longer I take it (lithium).
You have to weigh up pros and cons of any treatment.

    Tracy

    • Thanks, for the comment Tracy. I hate to hear that, but you know it seems like that’s the way a lot of people have to do these days for health. I don’t like it either there must be an alternative, we just got to find it.
