Here at livegreaterhealth.com we know, that cancer, is a word, that no one wants to here, especially from their doctor. You have a doctor’s appointment, so you go for your check up, feeling pretty good, just stomach hurting a little bit, here lately, nothing to be to alarmed about, so you think, you go through the examines thinking everything going alright, then the doctor comes in and hits you, with the news. You’ve got stomach cancer, it just floors you, your stunned for a moment, you gather your thoughts together. The doctor tells you, he’s got to do, a few more test, to see how serious it is, and what your options are going to be. Could it happen? Sure, it happens all the time, we never no.
First thing you do is go home get your computer and start researching. Finding out all you can about it, how many people survive it, what kind of treatments. What’s would be the best treatment and what the success rate is on it. We may not no to much about cancer, but I can tell you this, there are many types including breast and brain cancer.
Definition – (noun) a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body :
Cancer – medical condition – is a condition where cells in a specific part of the body grow and reproduce uncontrollable. The cancerous cells can invade and destroy surrounding healthy tissue, including organs.
Normally old cells would just die out and new one’s take their place, but in cancer growth old cells don’t die, but keep growing abnormally uncontrolled destroying all the tissues it comes in contact with, where ever it chooses to go. The picture is of a old cell that doesn’t die, but continues growing abnormally.
Cancer starts when cells change abnormally and grows, as cells multiply over and over. Some cells can spread to other parts of the body. They can spread through the blood stream or in the lymphatic system. That is called metastasis.
The most dangerous part of it, is when it spreads through the body. Now, we no, for cancer to spread the cells have to mutate for one reason or the other maybe genetic. The mutated cells either grow into a tumor or travel and spread to other parts of the body metastasizing.
Now as the it spreads though the body, it makes it harder and harder to treat. When our bodies cell control gets mixed up, old cells don’t die like they should, but grow out of control forming abnormal cells that form tumors. Where the cancer starts is usually called the primary site as it spreads to other parts of the body it’s called secondary cancer or metastasis. When, this happens, we feel helpless to stop it. Cancer can occur anywhere in the body.
Well there are several symptoms for cancer, some of them, are much like symptoms that you get with other sicknesses. Which are :
Now this is a few of the symptoms you could experience, you could even experience different one’s. The main thing is to keep in contact with your doctor on a regular basis.
Malignant – this is the most well-known characterization of cancer and is capable of spreading through the body.
When this happens, action has to be taken, as soon as possible.
Benign – is an abnormal growth in the body, and is not cancerous. It does not spread through the body, and usually isn’t life threatening. Though, if let undetected, can be deadly also, the sooner detected the better. The tumor usually can be removed by an operation.
Some cancer do not form tumors. For instance leukemia is a form that is in the blood.
Biopsy – by using surgery to cut part of the tumor out and test.
Needle Syringe – placing a needle in the tumor and extracting fluid to test.
Endoscope – they insert a scope with special instrument to look into your body an extract pieces of the tumor. They either go through an external opening like the mouth or make a incision and go through.
Physicians will run test and make a determination of, whether, it is cancer and if it is what type. They will go from there and decide treatment. The one thing that is for sure is that, just like people, no cancer is alike, so neither should your treatment be either.
After researching, I have found that cancer has a grading system. I am going to give a short rundown on it. So here it is :
Grading is the measuring of cells in a tumor, you can grade benign cancer, but mostly pertains to malignant. Grading is done through stages, where they measure how much the cancer has spread.
Tumor grade is the type or shape of a tumor based on abnormality of the cells, and how the tumor tissue look under the microscope. It is the model they go by of how the cancer is likely to grow and spread.
The term “well-differentiated” – how the cells and organization of the tumor’s tissue are close to normal one’s. They grow at a slower rate.
The term “undifferentiated” – has abnormal looking cells and lack normal tissue structure.
Now, from what we have learned so far, is how their grading system is based. There is more to the grading system, this is some of the basics.
Carcinomas – originate in the lungs, breasts, stomach, pancreas, skin and other organs and glands.
Sarcoma-malignant tumors of the muscles, fat, cartilage, cancellous bone, hematopoietic, or vascular tissues.
Lymphoma-is cancer that begins in the cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These same cells are in the lymph nodes and spleen, also in other parts of the body, including the bone marrow.
Melanoma– is a form of skin cancer, typically a malignant tumor associated with skin cancer: “melanomas can appear anywhere on the body”. The ultraviolet ray’s from the sun is the most common cause.
Leukemia-Usually the uncontrolled growth of white blood cells (leukocytes), that invade and replace the bone marrow cells.
Since no two cancers are alike, there are different ways to treat it. Here is some well-known methods :
Surgery-sometimes the tumor can be taken out, other times they can just get part of the tumor. Sometimes tumors grow back, that’s when they have to use and alternative treatment.
Radiation-is used to stop the growth or kill the cancer cells. There are three types of radiation therapy that can be used :
External Beam-a machine is used to direct a beam of radiation to the location of the cancerous cells to destroy them.
Internal-this is where they place a radioactive material on or near the tumor.
Systemic– Injecting the radioactive material into the blood stream is the most commonly way to do this. This may also be done by swallowing the substance.
Chemotherapy-uses very strong drugs in different ways to kill the cancer cells. Here are some of the procedures :
Intravenous-The most commonly way to use is by inserting an (IV) in the body, for the process of administering the drugs.
Injection-this one’s simple, if they can get to the tumor. They will inject the drug in the body where the cancer is.
Oral-this means that liquid or pill form chemotherapy can be taken.
Spiritual-this is last on my list but more than likely should be first. Why because though we live in the flesh we have a soul. We have a spiritual side and a creator. Now having a creator who is God we have something that will take care of its own if need be. This is where we need to use our spiritual side prayer and having faith or believing that we can be healed. Being positive, Believing, and never doubting that it’s true. FAITH in something greater. Hi Fred! You have shared some valuable cancer information. I look forward to reading your future posts on what you learned about defeating cancer. It's true that the cancer word can be frightening, but knowledge is empowering. My close friend passed away with cancer 2 years ago. In fact, for the last 4 or 5 years I have researched successful, alternative cancer treatment options. They do exist, but I didn't become aware of those options until my friend was too sick from traditional cancer treatment to be helped. People need to know that there are natural ways to defeat cancer--- spiritually, using vitamins & supplements, exercising, and with healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. Glad to see your health site!
Thank You
Hello Fred, I worked in the medical field for more than 6 years and the information that you provided was exceptional. Most of my relatives have been taken due to cancer and bad choices that lead to the cancer. So from someone who has lost people and even has a close friend who beat it, accurate info is also important.
Thank you, Danielle, I have also lost several family members to cancer.
Fred,
I went through the Endoscope procedure this year. My test came back OK for now. Lost my mom and one sister to cancer already. Your information is very good for those who are looking at testing and treatment with questions. Look forward to your upcoming post.
John
Thank you, sorry to here about your mom and sister. I have lost two brother in-laws and their father and also one aunt. It's a terrible disease.
Thank you for sharing your research on this disease. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the grading system. It's not something, at least in my opinion, that is often discussed when people discuss the disease.
You are welcome, this needs to be put where it can be known.
hey Fred, an excellent post that everyone should read, most of us are uninformed about cancer as it is almost a taboo subject, but info like this is going to make people realise that prevention is better than cure, great post.
You so right, it is much better to prevent than to try to cure. You don't worry about curing, if there is nothing to cure. More people need that train of thought, the world would be healthier. Thanks for the comment, if there is anything you would like to see on health topics leave me a comment and let me know.
Hi, Fred. This is a comprehensive article about cancer. The word is very scarry for me because many of my relative die because of cancer. I would love to learn more about how to avoid cancer. Are you agree that stress can cause cancer?
Thanks, I agree that it can be a forerunner to cancer, causing a weakened immune system. Which in hand would let free radicals to invade the body and take control of it.
Cancer really is a scary word, but one we can defeat. You have a comprehensive article about cancer, thank you for putting all these pieces of great information together.
Thanks for your comment, Trying to get it more noticed. Sometimes, I think they just forget about it, and focus on making money off it.
I don't think there's anyone who doesn't know someone that hasn't been touched by this awful disease. Thank you for your very informative post. Very thorough.
Thank you, yes, getting very common these days.
Hi Fred,
Thank you for your research and succinct and relevant information on a variety of bodily health issues, especially on cancer. I have had several family members and friends be diagnosed with cancer, in recent years defeating it. So much has happened in the diagnosis, treatment and preventative care that we are truly beginning to win the battles. Healthy living and diet and attitudes all seem to contribute. Thank you for giving this information!
You are welcome, most of the of my family members were not so lucky in defeating it. I would like to get more information out on it.
